Honest food, grown and made the slow way.
A working market in the heart of Rutherford County. We work directly with regional farmers, smoke our own meats, and stock the kind of pantry staples you can build a meal around — every single day of the week.
Late-summer harvest is landing on the tables.
Our growers picked the first of the season's heirloom tomatoes, sweet corn, and stone fruit at sunrise. The cool nights are pulling sugars into the melons, and the apple orchards are reporting a banner crop coming in eight weeks. Get it while it's here.
See What's In SeasonSix departments, all worth a stop.
Whether you're stocking a Tuesday-night dinner or planning a Sunday supper for ten, the right ingredients change everything. Wander our departments and meet the people who make them.
A market built on handshakes, harvest logs, and very long phone calls.
What began in 1987 as a roadside table of surplus tomatoes has grown into a full working market — but the rules haven't changed. We buy direct from growers we visit in person. We cure our own bacon in the back room. And we know, by name, the farmer who put the food on your table.
Today, our shelves carry more than 1,200 small-producer goods from across the region: stone-ground grits from a fourth-generation Georgia mill, raw honey pulled from hives two ridges over, sourdough levain that's been alive for nineteen years. Read more about how we got here →
The kind of sourcing you can taste.
A short list of the practices that shape every aisle, every shelf, and every plate we serve.
Direct from the farm
We buy from growers we know by name, with farm visits every season. No commodity brokers, no middlemen, no produce that spent a week on a truck.
House-made, in-house
Our bacon is cured for nine days. Our sausages are ground fresh each morning. Our bakery starts the ovens at 4 a.m. — and you can smell the bread from the parking lot.
What grows here, when
We build the shelves around the season, not the calendar. Tomatoes peak in August, apples in October, citrus in winter. The menu changes; the quality doesn't.
Traceable & transparent
Every cut of meat, every jar, every head of lettuce has a story we can tell you. Ask any team member where it came from — they know the farm, the date, and the field.
How a Saturday morning at the market actually happens.
A look at the path your food took to land in your basket — from the field to the front door.
Harvested at dawn
Our growers pick in the cool of the morning — most produce is in the truck within two hours of leaving the soil.
Inspected on arrival
Our receiving team checks every crate for quality, temperature, and ripeness before anything reaches a shelf.
Hand-staged
We wash, sort, and arrange produce by hand. Bruised fruit goes to our kitchen or to the food bank — never the bin.
On the shelf
Most items are in your hands within 24 hours of harvest. That's the whole point of working this close to home.
In your kitchen
We tag every grower, every farm, and every batch. Ask us where your food came from — we love the conversation.
A few words from the regulars.
Three decades of feeding the same community means we hear back. Here's what folks have been saying at the counter.
"I drive forty minutes every Saturday just for the tomatoes. Once you taste a Brandywine that's been picked the morning of, there's no going back to the supermarket kind. My kids now refuse them anywhere else."
"The butcher counter is the real reason I shop here. They cut to order, they'll tell you exactly which farm the steer came from, and the smoked sausages are genuinely the best I've had outside of the Old World."
"I run a small restaurant and source almost all of my pantry from Rutherford's. The relationships they've built with growers are impossible to replicate — I get heirloom beans, real vermouth, and pickles that actually taste like cucumbers."
